Coots Class Reflect and Review14 May 2026 (by Sue Woodward (SueW)) |
Term 5 week 5
This week the children have all done lots of Maths! We have been focusing on working more independently at a slightly easier level, helping the children to build confidence and problem-solving skills. We discussed how, in real life, maths often needs us to think things through ourselves rather than having an adult explain every step.
Some children have found managing their emotions a little tricky this week, so alongside our focus book You Choose and our non-fiction transport books, we have also been enjoying Pete the Cat. The children love the funky song and have been thinking carefully about how we react when things go wrong and what we can do to regulate. We are all trying to “keep singing our song” because “it’s all good!”
We have been so pleased with the children’s engagement this week, particularly during group activities. Learning to work as part of a team is not always easy, but the children are showing great progress and are supporting each other beautifully. Well done, Coots Class!
Next week we will continue exploring vehicles and transport through our learning and play.
