    Oceans Reflect and Review

    8 May 2026 (by Beth I)

A week full of exciting learning across all subjects!

As writers, we have been carefully investigating some illustrations from The Rhythm and Rain. We have been annotating them with our observations by focusing particularly on the role of the river and water within the environment, exploring how they affect the habitats and living things around them.
As mathematicians, in Indian, we are almost at the end of our decimals unit, where we have been developing confidence when adding, subtracting, comparing and ordering decimals. Next, we will begin our new unit on time, where we will focus on reading and telling the time to the nearest minute and in 5-minute intervals using analogue clocks. Arctic class has started to tackle time this week, looking at analogue and digital clocks. We have used our times tables to support our understanding and this has made learning much quicker.
As scientists, we have begun our new unit on adaptation. We have been learning about habitats and ecosystems, exploring how living things depend on one another within an environment. We have also discussed how both natural changes and human activity can impact habitats and the organisms that live within them. The children shared thoughtful and thought-provoking ideas, showing great curiosity and a strong understanding of this topic.
We have celebrated David Attenborough’s 100th birthday and discussed how we can be advocates for making positive changes to help the environment and wildlife.
