    Reflect and Review

16 April 2026 (by Sue Woodward (SueW))

    Wk1 Summer Term

This week, the children have settled back into class routines really well. To support this, we have continued focusing on emotional literacy; exploring thoughts, feelings, routines, and ways to communicate effectively and appropriately. We have filled “jars of worries” and “cups of compliments,” and have been learning ways to regulate our bodies.

In maths, we are focusing on time. The children have learned that there are 60 minutes in an hour, have practised counting in 5's, and can now recognise o’clock and half past. Much of our learning has been practical; using our bodies as clock hands and working with partners to share and explore clocks. We have also been applying these skills to support transitions, making sure we are on time.

As a class, we already know a lot about Greece, including that it is hotter than the UK, that pottery is an important part of its culture, and that a different language is spoken there. Over the term, we will continue to develop the children’s knowledge, particularly around Ancient Greece. We have enjoyed using the world map to locate Greece, the surrounding seas, and the United Kingdom.

A reminder that swimming is on Monday, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately. Also, please remember to book a school meal if your child is not bringing a packed lunch.
