Explorers Reflect and Review13 February 2026 (by Beth Curtis (Beth)) |
Enjoy half term - see you all back on Tuesday 24th February.
This week as writers, Shackleton and Cook have been planning, writing and editing their own poems, based on Tom Lovatt-Powell’s “Oxford”. They have included fronted adverbials, modal verbs, personification and a variety of punctuation for effect. These poems are absolutely amazing! Everyone has worked incredibly hard on them. Beagle have completed their own matchbox diaries, writing their final diary entries to accompany them.
As mathematicians, Beagle have been working on filling their gaps, finding missing numbers to 100, 1000 and 1 (using decimals). Cook have been developing their understanding of pie charts, drawing them and using them to solve problems. Shackleton have been continuing to look at fractions, looking at fractions of an amount and finding the whole.
As a phase, we’ve been thinking about being optimistic in the Big 5 and me, reflecting on how we can reframe a half empty glass of water, into a half full glass and how we can apply that in our daily lives.
Notices:
