Rockpool reflect and review12 February 2026 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT)) |
In phonics, we focused on the letter ‘n’, practising the sound using our Jolly Phonics song and actions. The children explored items in the sound box and worked on recognising and saying the ‘n’ sound.
In our tray, the children loved exploring colourful rice with spoons and bowls. They practised pouring, scooping and sprinkling, developing fine motor skills and using and listening to lots of language. It was a big hit!
In the sports hall, we had great fun running, climbing, swinging, throwing and catching. These activities supported balance, coordination and confidence.
At our playdough table, we explored herbs by crushing, smelling and mixing them into the dough. The children used a pestle and mortar to grind the herbs, building hand strength and enjoying the different scents.
In maths, we used the Hungry Caterpillar book to explore and extend simple ABAB patterns. Some children were able to continue patterns independently.
In our music therapy session, the children enjoyed singing together and took turns playing the guitar, building listening skills, confidence and turn-taking.
We hope you have a lovely half-term. Reminder that after half-term, we are back in school on Tuesday, 24th Feb!
The Rockpool team.
