Rockpool Reflect and Review6 February 2026 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT)) |
Week 5
This week in class, we have had a busy and enjoyable time learning through play and hands-on experiences. We explored The Very Hungry Caterpillar by investigating different fruits. The children enjoyed squashing, smelling and tasting the fruit. Everyone was given time to explore at their own pace.
In phonics, we focused on the letter ‘p’. The children listened to the sound, practised saying it, and explored objects and words that begin with ‘p’.
During our time in the sports hall, we played group games together. The children held each other's hands, moving safely, and running around as a group, supporting turn-taking, teamwork and social interaction.
During our music session, the children explored sound by playing the guitar, using their fingers to strum the strings and create simple tunes.
In maths, we worked on matching Numicon to the correct number, focusing on developing early number recognition and matching skills.
Overall, it has been a positive week filled with sensory exploration, communication, movement and shared learning experiences.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
