Coots Class, Wk5 Reflect and Review

We're Going in a Bear Hunt!

This week in Coots class, our focus has been on the story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. We have enjoyed reading the book and watching Michael Rosen read the story aloud. The children have taken part in lots of role play, both indoors and outdoors, and have loved creating their own Bear Hunt trails.

We explored different textures from the story through leaf rubbing on paper, water play, and using cotton wool to represent snow. Our medium-term planning focus on weather has linked closely to We’re Going on a Bear Hunt because the story takes the children through different weather and natural environments, such as wind, rain, mud, snow, and water. This has supported the children in exploring seasonal changes, sensory experiences, and descriptive language in a meaningful and engaging way. We have continued with our daily phonics sessions, focusing on “tick and fix”, encouraging the children to think about the end product and learn from their mistakes.

Our golden rule this week has been We will work hard, supported by the story The Very Busy Spider, which the children watched and thoroughly enjoyed.

Our end-of-day routine has also been enhanced with Attention Autism sessions with a wind theme, having fun blowing bubbles and balloons and letting them go! It's becoming a lovely end of the day for us all
