Aegean Reflect and Review23 January 2026 (by admin) |
In Language and Literacy we have been continuing our story about robots which the children have loved, we’ve been looking at the features of a front cover and comparing them. The children have also gained a lot of confidence with their own reading and now we are seeing this through guided reading. The exciting robot creations in the story have really hooked the children.
In Maths we are still focusing on dividing and some children are enjoying the challenge of looking at remainders.
We are noticing children using a range of skills to help with this; using times tables, arrays etc. Other children are using counters to group / divide - share .
In Topic our BIG question has been "What is Navigation?" We’ve looked at the dead reckoning, compared how explorers navigated along time ago compared to now, learnt the points of a compass and used games to help promote this. The children have also used language of direction to help them draw and plan their route to school, we are going to continue looking at clockwise, anti-clockwise and turns of degree by playing partner assault course games in Mulberry Bush.
Mulberry Bush has helped us understand what is a joke , when it’s appropriate and how to manage our feelings if we are unhappy about a situation around a “joke”. We've had a good laugh along the way!
Family snack has been reintroduced this term and the children are showing off their language skills and enjoying chats about the differences in people’s lives also taking the opportunity to reflect on their own mornings before moving on to the rest of the day.
See you next week!
