    Oceans Reflect and Review

    16 January 2026 (by Beth I)

    What a busy week!

In Indian class, as mathematicians, we continued our multiplication and division unit, focusing on the 3, 6, and 9 times tables and extending our learning through additional practice and problem-solving. In Arctic class, we looked at multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100 and then moved on to look at how we can rearrange number sentences to make fact families.

As writers, we started our new English text, Arthur and the Golden Rope. We have started to explore the text and write creatively based on the illustrations. We have also continued to develop our grammar skills by identifying and using nouns, adjectives and prepositions.

As historians, we started our new unit on the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings. We started the week recapping why the Romans left Britain and where the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings came from. We explored why the Vikings were successful, learned about the different types of Viking longships and studied the raid on Lindisfarne and discussed why it was so significant. We have thoroughly enjoyed this topic so far and next week, we will continue to develop our understanding.
