The Quay Reflect and Review Term 3 Wk 216 January 2026 (by Sue Woodward (SueW)) |
This week we have continued our Weather theme, expanding the children’s vocabulary using a range of weather-related words. With the mix of sunshine, rain and cold we’ve experienced, we certainly had plenty of real-life examples to explore!
As the children have become more settled in Coots Class, we have begun to enjoy some shared sessions with children from the wider school. It has been lovely to see relationships developing, with the children beginning to play more cooperatively with their friends in Coots and beyond. One child has also started attending a small phonics group, supported by Millie, and we have been sharing some outdoor time with younger children from Barrier Reef. These opportunities have really encouraged the children to notice and respect others’ differences and needs, and they are very proud of their role as the “big boys”!
As part of our journey towards re-accreditation as a Nurture School, we have been focusing on Principle 3: Language is a vital means of communication. We have created a document outlining how we support this in Coots Class, which has been shared with you via email.
The children have also enjoyed a range of creative activities this week. They have been developing their fine motor skills by using scissors to make masks and Rainbow Fish from shiny paper. We even created a “snow machine” using a tissue box, which caused great excitement!
Thank you, as always, for your support.
