Happy New Year and welcome back. New busy term ahead.

Welcome back we all hope you had a good restful time, we would like to welcome our new families.

This term’s topic is Frozen worlds. The topic book we will be reading is ‘Be brave little penguin’. This story looks at how things make us scared and how we can overcome them, and different emotions.

As we start this topic the weather has be just what we need. We explored the frozen water in the mud kitchen and smashed it. We looked at the frozen leaves in the tuff tray and skated on top of them. And then it snowed. We wrapped up warm and played, we even managed to make a few snow balls.

We have been building on our muscle strength in our hands as we have rolled, squished, squeezed, poked and prodded the blue playdough and cloud dough. We rolled some into small balls and counted these as we put them in the muffin moulds. Using our number language and proposition comprehension.

We have been learning new songs about snow flakes and penguins. If you would like a copy to sing with your child please let us know and we will print one for you.

As the weather is cold please can you make sure your child has a coat, hat and mittens/gloves all named please as there are a lot of children and it is difficult for the staff to remember who’s hat is who’s.

This afternoon you should have received an email from Funding Loop. Please fill this in as this is the declaration form for the 15 and 30 hour funding.

A reminder that the closing date for applying for a school place is 15th January. This is for any child that has or will turn 4yrs old by 31st August 2026.

Keep warm, have a lovely weekend and we will see you all next week.

    Sarah and the team.
