Autumn Assessment Week
With a number of children away at the residential in Paris (France), this week In Explorers we have split into year groups. The Year 5’s, like the rest of the school, have been taking maths, reading and spelling, punctuation and grammar assessments. The children have shown fantastic resilience and perseverance, spending most mornings this week in exam conditions, and learnt vital skills they will continue to use as they move through their educational journey.
The assessments will be analysed over the next two weeks and will inform our teaching for the rest of the year. All assessments will be sent home in the last week of term together with the children’s Autumn report.
The Year 6’s have continued their English work creating internal monologues based upon our text: When we were Warriors. Later in the week, we've spent time being engineers. The children first followed detailed instructions to create k’nex bridges and then put this learning to use to create their own cardboard structures that had to bear significant weight.
Christmas Carol Service - Tuesday 9th December
We are excited to invite you to our Christmas Carol Service at The University Church of St Mary the Virgin, High Street, Oxford (OX1 4BJ).
Parents and carers are warmly welcome to join us between 10:45–11:30 to watch the children perform their Christmas song and reading. After the service, all children will return to school for the rest of the day as normal. We look forward to seeing you there.
Have a great weekend
