    Rockpool Weekly Reflect and Review

16 October 2025 (by Lisa Brown (LisaB))

"Oh wow, awesome, I'm on celebrity masterchef!"

Our pizza party went so well. The children used a range of tools to make their pizza. The children were spreading the puree, grating the cheese, cutting peppers, chopping tomatoes and sprinkling sweetcorn. It was so lovely to se the children demonstrating their ability to follow instructions safely.

In phonics we have continued to learn our weekly letter sound 'S' and have been listening to initial letter sounds. Some of us have been repeating the names of flash cards, others have enjoyed descriptive commentary to give words to their actions and many of the children engaged in sustained shared thinking as they talked about their busy weekend.

In maths we have been thinking about positional language, we will continue to learn more about this next week. We have continued to recognise shapes within the environment and have talked about the properties of different shapes. We have also been practsing our cutting skills as we cut out shapes. This is a new skill for us and we are learning to cut safely. We need lot's of practise.

We have also had the best time creating our art work. From splatter painting to glittery pictures. Mark making is so important and we are having the best time learning about our colours and exploring colour mixing.

Please can we ask that you ensure you arrive at the gate at 8:30 as this is when we start learning. We cannot wait as the children are eager to get started! If you arrive late please go to the main reception and we will come to collect your child after they have completed their registration group time. Thank you.
