    Islands Reflect & Review

10 October 2025 (by Zenith Zespinoza (Zenith))

This week has been such a great week in Islands! The children were especially excited to have some familiar visitors on Thursday!

This week in Islands, our young artists have been truly amazing! We completed our art topic, Explore and Draw. After spending time exploring our environment and becoming collectors of natural treasures, the children turned their attention to observational drawing and experimental mark-making. Using a range of media, including pencils and handwriting pens, they created detailed drawings of the items they had collected the week before. This week, we also introduced the children to a magical art technique — wax resist! Using crayons, wax, and paint, the children discovered how colours can shine through layers and create beautiful patterns. They took inspiration from the warm, rich colours of autumn and the shapes of falling leaves to make truly eye-catching pieces of art. The children were so proud of their finished work, and we couldn’t agree more — their creativity, care, and imagination have been fantastic! We are so impressed with how much they’ve learned about observing, experimenting, and expressing themselves through art.
