Explorers Reflect and Review19 September 2025 (by Menna (Menna)) |
A busy week as always!
As writers, in Beagle we have been exploring how to communicate, as the boy in our story has a stutter. We have been exploring poetry and begun writing our own. Endeavour and Endurance have been busy planning and writing their own continuations of the 1000 year old boy.
As mathematicians, we have been continuing with place value: comparing and ordering numbers, rounding to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 … all the way up to 1,000,000!
As historians we have been thinking about information sources and what we can understand and learn about the past from different types. We have explored the discovery of Weymouth graves, thinking about what the evidence tells us about the people who lived and died there.
Year 6 from Endeavour and Endurance learnt how to skate in a straight(ish!) line and practiced their stopping!
Next week will be a mock SATs week for year 6. They will be sitting the papers as they would for the real thing - spread out over the week during the mornings. We will send the papers home once we have marked and analysed them,

Family Drop Ins
This year we will be inviting you to drop in and visit your child's classroom each term. This isn't a formal meeting with the teacher but a chance to meet the team and for your child to show you where they spend a lot of their time each day! Our first drop in will be Thursday 9th October from 8.10 until 9. Please make a note in your diary and we hope you can join us.
Curriculum and Home-learning
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Cake and Curriculum session. All the information shared in the session will be on the school website by Monday for all parents and carers to access. If you have any further questions please email explorers@stfridewides.co.uk or speak to your child’s class teacher.
