    Supporting Reading over Summer!

    4 July 2025 (by Beth I)

We all know how important reading is and the impact that it has on children’s access to the rest of the curriculum! With the summer holidays approaching there are some things you can do to encourage your child to read.

Today, after school, there will be a chance for you and your child to choose from a wide range of books that have been donated to the school. Please come by and help your child to choose appropriate books that will inspire reading for pleasure.

On Saturday, the library’s Summer Reading Challenge begins. This takes place of the summer break and encourages children to make use of local libraries. The best part…it’s absolutely free! There will be a gathering next week when the children will learn more about what they can get up to and what prizes they could win.

Finally, our school library is having a little make over and so please can all school library books be returned today. The library will re-open in September with a variety of new books.
