Summer 2: Week 4
Another warm week! Please remember to send your child with a hat, apply sun cream in the mornings and ensure they have a water bottle. We continue to keep an eye on the weather and, in severe heat, will reduce the children's sun exposure and limit strenuous outdoor activities: especially as our outdoor breaks occur during peak sun hours.
As we approach the end of the year in Maths, we begin to look at the wider maths curriculum. This week in Oceans we’ve been exploring angles and shape. We’ve described the size of a turn (initially using quarter, half and three quarter turns) and begun to understand that the greater the angle, the greater the turn. We have then named and compared the sizes of angles.
We’ve also looked at the properties of shapes, naming and categorising different types of triangles and quadrilaterals as well as other polygons. Pacific spent Friday morning using marshmallows and straws to build 3D shapes including square based pyramids, triangular prisms and cuboids. Strangely, none of the marshmallows made it to the end of the lesson!? If anyone knows where they went please let us know
