    Oceans Reflect and Review

    Spring Term week 2

This week in Oceans has been all about golden tickets! In English, ticket in hand, Charlie has reached the chocolate factory. So, in our sentence stacking we’ve been writing about him finding the ticket, running home and telling his family. We’ve been practicing using adjectives, similes and dialogue in our writing as adding relative clauses to provide more detail to the reader.

The children in Indian Class also wrote fascinating stories about heroes. They had the opportunity to take part in the Nasio Trusts’ ‘Global Storybook Project’ that aims to create, and publish an anthology that celebrates cultural diversity, creativity - empowering the voices of students from both the UK and Kenya.

In maths we continue to look at multiplication, moving beyond times tables to look at multiplying two and three digit numbers by a one digit number (e.g. 3 x 54 or 3 x 545). Times tables are the vital building blocks of this work. Our weekly Sumdog competitions are having a positive impact on the children’s times table recall. However, a large number of children are not logging and practising (playing maths games!) outside of school.

Please support your child to log into and use Sumdog. If they are unsure of their logins contact oceans@stfrideswides.co.uk

Next Friday, Oceans will be attending the Oxford Schools Concert at the Sheldonian Theatre.

The trip will take place during the school day. As we are walking all children will need to be appropriately dressed for the weather. Children will need a packed lunch and water bottle. If your child is entitled to a free school meal, one will be provided for them.

The cost for the performance is £5.00. Please pay using MCAS or pay cash into the office.
