    Anemones Weekly Reflect and review

19 April 2024 (by Lisa Brown (LisaB))

What a beautiful and sunny start to the new term! This term we are learning about animals. Our new story this term is Dear Zoo.

This week we have been very busy finding out new facts about wild animals. In the mornings we have been watching different animals on the live cam at the zoo and thinking about the features of different animals and their habitats. We have also used the Orboot and interactive app to find animals from around the world. We were able to learn new facts and share these with our friends

In phonics we are extending the children’s vocabulary, explaining unfamiliar words and concepts and making sure the children have understood what they mean through stories, imaginative play and story telling.

In maths we have been thinking about weight and measurement. The children used the weighted numbers and frogs to compare weights. We talked about what happened if we add too much or too little weight and how we make the weights equal. We extended this learning by using the large weighs in the garden where the children could compare larger objects.

As we move into the summer term please can we ask that you apply all day sun cream to your child before they start school. We spend a lot of time in the garden learning and it is vital that the children are completely protected from the sun. Can we also ask that you supply a sun hat and water bottle to have at school that is clearly labelled. Thank you.

Have a lovely weekend and we will see you all back on Monday ready for another busy week.
