    Coral Reef Reflect and Review

8 March 2024 (by Laura Thornton (LauraT))

Wow! What a busy week we have had; the children have been immersed in singing, baking and making!

The children were busily preparing for our Mother's Day Tea this week. They all created cards, printed bags and helped to bake the cakes that were served. They practised their singing each day and were so excited to perform today.

As musicians we have been lucky enough to have some additional music sessions with John and Kate from Oxford Song who the school works closely with. The children enjoyed taking part in a range of singing and instrument activities across two days. It has been amazing to see the confidence the children have when performing in front of each other.

As artists this week the children have been developing their skills in sculpting with clay as they created their own clay monsters- they all look fantastic! Next week the children will be writing about their monster.

In the Coral Reef we love stories and adventure with them every week and World Book Day gave us the opportunity to do this even more! The children took part in two Drawing Club sessions which centered around the story 'The Hairy Toe' The children had the opportunity to share their own favourite books with each other and listened to the teachers favourite stories! At the end of the day we went into our House Teams and shared stories with children across the school.

All children have been given a yellow reading record book to keep in their book bags alongside their reading book. This is for you as parents to write in, each time your child reads at home. Please write the book title and just a short comment on how they are getting on with their reading. It is really helpful for us to know how they are progressing with their reading at home as well as school.

Next Week will be thinking about the story animation 'Trap Door' some of you may remember this from your childhood!

In Maths we will continue to practise counting, combining two amounts, recalling number bonds to 5 and thinking about odd and even numbers.

We will be creating Spring dances in PE and as artists we will be creating monsters by blowing paint.

We would like to thank all of the mums, grandparents and aunties who joined us for our Mother's Day Tea Party, it was wonderful to see so many of you there and we hope that you all had a lovely time! We hope that you enjoy your card and gift and are all spoiled again on Sunday!

We sent out letters for our summer trip to Legoland this week. If you didn't get a letter or have lost it, please let us know!

    Enjoy the weekend
