    Islands Weekly Reflect and Review

9 February 2024 (by Lauren Arbour (Lauren))

This week in RE we explored the big question - Who is God to Muslims? The children started by exploring what respect means and how we can be respectful beings.

The children considered some attributes that Muslims might believe that Allah has and explain the ways a Muslim might show respect to Allah in their lives. Children across Islands really embodied their faith and shared their own stories and beliefs confidently, passionately and with pride. To end the week we shared what we do to show people who are special to us that we care.

We will start the new term as geographers, we will learn that maps and plans are representations of space in two dimensions and flat images. We will use digimaps, globes and aerial photographs to explore our local surroundings and continue to develop our knowledge of the United Kingdom. We will create a plan for our classroom, thinking about the relative position of different objects in the room, and representing 3-D space in a 2-D diagram.

In English we will be investigating the Great Fire of London. Please keep any and all cereal boxes over the half term, each child will need a cereal box during the term as we recreate the houses on Pudding Lane.
