This week we have been working hard in English as we have continued with our work on the book Windrush Child. This has allowed us to really focus on our SPaG skills, finding examples in the text and creating our own.

As mathematicians we have been focusing on multiplication, particularly using both grid method and column method.

As Historians we have been looking at the emigration of those from the Caribbean on the Empire Windrush. We have looked at stories from those who emigrated and written diary entries as if we were there.

As musicians we have continued to work with students from Oxford University, learning a variety of songs and evaluating them. In Ukulele we have been learning about the blues and improvisation.

Next week

On Tuesday we have 2 sporting events - indoor athletics at Oxford Academy and Netball in Headington. The children selected for these have brought home the letters.

In maths we will be using our multiplication skills when problem solving.

We will continue to be historians, finalising our focus on emigration and the Empire Windrush.

Reminders

In December, we sent out letters for our London trip to the theatre performance and the science museum. We have not received many permissions and payments. Without your support we are unable to run trips like this, so we ask that payment be made on pupil assett or by sending cash in a named envelope to the office. We will reprint letters next week for those who require them. Thank you for your support.
