    Anemones Weekly Reflect and review

12 January 2024 (by Lisa Brown (LisaB))

Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year!

Welcome back! The children had a fun start back to the term as we focus on our new story ‘Supertato’. They had to save the vegetables from the evil pea! We shared the story which led to discussions around superheroes and healthy eating. We talked about the fruits and vegetables we enjoy, how being active keeps us healthy and thought about how we need to look after our teeth.  We also started to share what we know about the real heroes and how we help one another.

In phonics we have begun to think about body percussion, using our body to make sounds and have started to learn a new song - five firefighters!

In maths we have been recognising and naming 2d shapes. We went on a shape walk, perhaps you could go on a shape walk this weekend. Just look out for all the 2d shapes you can see. There are so many.

Next week we will be thinking more about the real heroes of the world and how they help others. We will also be focusing on developing our fine motor skills as we explore manipulative materials, practise our cutting skills and concentrate on making marks in our ‘write dance’ sessions.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend and appreciate your ongoing support in ensuring your child is in school every session and arriving and being collected on time.
