    Explorers Weekly Reflect and Review

10 March 2023 (by Beth Taylor (Beth))

This week Explorers have been continuing with Running Wild in English, begun work on ratio in maths, finalised their 2D sculptures and begun to look at the human body in science.

Another great week for explorers! We are loving Running Wild - you could hear a pin drop while that is being read - creating great sentences using the sentence stacking techniques. In Maths we have started a new concept for many: Ratio. This has had us using our fractions knowledge as well as learning to use particular vocabulary.

Most classes have completed their 2D sculptures in art, which look fantastic! In PSHE we have been creating fundraising plans for Comic Relief next week.

    Next week:

Next week the year 6’s will be doing a final SATs practise. This will be done in the way the actual SATs will in May, in classrooms. This means that the year 5’s will be doing other activities while the assessments are going on.

Next week we will be looking into the details of the human body, in Science, deepening our knowledge on how different bodily systems work.

In English, we will be planning, and writing, our own stories about surviving a tsunami against the odds.

Tuesday Beagle are travelling to the Oxford Playhouse as part of their play writing experience that they have been working on.

Friday is a busy day next week - the lacrosse tournament is taking place, but also we are fundraising for Comic Relief. All children are invited to bring in a donation and dress in red, for Red Nose Day, or in the colours of the Irish Flag, for St Patrick’s day.

There will also be a second hand book and teddy stall in the playground after school. This is the children’s idea, and in order to make it run smoothly we are looking for donations of unwanted, but still in good condition, teddies and books suitable for all ages across the school. These will then be sold at 50p each with money raised again going to Comic Relief.
