    Oceans Weekly Reflect and Review

3 March 2023 (by Menna (Menna))

This week has been a week full of exploring, testing our limits and challenging ourselves!

In gymastics this week, we worked on partner balances where we used our core strength to hold poses with a partner - this required great skill, concentration and teamwork! Four children also took part in a hockey tournament in partnership with Oxford Brookes and had a great time practising their newly acquired hockey skills.

In English, we've been continuing our poetry unit on Rivers and will begin to map our own versions next week. In Maths, we've been continuing to learn about fractions, thinking about unit and non-unit fractions as well as working to fill our gaps in Big Maths.

Almost all the children have been remembering to bring in their reading wallets each day, please remind them to bring them in as they will need them every day.

We've finished out geoography topic on rivers this week, culminating in some fantastic non-fiction writing about the structure of a river. Next week we'll begin learning about the Elizabethans, who Queen Elizabeth I was and what life was like during the Elizabethan age. If you have any tomatoes, pototoes, pineapples or food that the Elizabethans brought to the UK and you would be happy to donate them for a banquet next week, please send them in on Monday! We'll be learning about why the Elizabethan era was so important to food in the UK.

Finally, a quick reminder about homelearning. The children are all given home learning each week and need to complete sumdog or TTRS each day, spellings & handwriting, daily reading and a weekly topic home learning. These need to be in school on a Wednesday morning. Children who do not complete their home learning will need to do so during their weekly Golden Time! If your child has lost their topic web for this term, it is available on Learn and on our website.

    Have a lovely weekend,

    The Oceans Team.
