    Oceans Reflect and Review

3 February 2023 (by Menna (Menna))

    What a scrumptious week!

Oceans have had a fantastic, fun filled week this week. During the week we have planned, made and sold over 100 cakes and sweet things! We began our week by planning our fundraiser, spent time making and baking and raised £64.36 today for the NSPCC! Wow! Thank you to everyone who bought our cakes and we hope you enjoyed them :)

When not baking, we have been busy writing our own versions of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with many of the chidlren writing theirs with a twist - did you know Charlie entered the factory with plans to swipe Willy Wonka's plans and inventions? Well, according to some children, he did! We've also been busy measuring and calcuating perimeters and thinking about the best unit to use in measuring. We burnt off some of the cakes in PE by working on our balancing and jumping skills as part of the indoor athletics whilst mastering some dance steps.

Next week, we'll be finishing off our topic of Buildings by creating presentations to sell world famous buildings, beginning with the Sheldonian. We'll be using all of our learning over the past 3 terms to create persuasive, convincing powerpoints to advertise buildings from Australia (Sydney Opera House) to London (St Pauls). How much can the children remember about the famous buildings? Can they persuade eachother that their chosen building is a better investment?

In Maths we'll be finishing off our unit on perimeter and measurement and have some end of term gap filling fun.

All of the chidlren were given their new logins to Oxford Reading Buddy, an online reading platform tailored to each child- please help your child to login over the weekend ready to talk about it on Monday and let us know what they think!

    Have a wonderful weekend,

    The Oceans Team.
