    Oceans Reflect and Review

20 January 2023 (by Menna (Menna))

Chocolate Rocks anyone? This week the Oceans children have finished learning about Rocks with a choc-rock cycle experience. Thank you to everyone who sent in chocolate donations, they were well recieved!

When not learning about rocks, the children have been busy practising their times tables in a variety of ways, exploring multiplication and division and the law of commutativity (you can add and multiply in any order). In English, they have been busy writing about Charlie and the Chocolate factory and using relative clauses, which allow a writer to add extra information, whilst thinking about the range of emotions Charlie might have felt when he won his golden ticket.

Next week we'll be taking inspiration from the incredible illustrator Quentin Blake and have a go at drawing in his style using a range of artistic materials. We'll continue our writing about Charlie in English whilst in Maths will continue thinking about different ways of multiplying and dividing.

On Friday, several children will be leaving for the Wales residential whilst those that remain will be going to the Sheldonian to watch the Oxfordshire Music Service's Schools concert before visiting Somerville College for lunch and a tour (remember to bring a packed lunch!).

Each week the children are given maths and spelling home learning along with different reading books (reading for pleasure, reading gladiators and/or banded books). Please read with your child every day and record what you have read in their reading log. Home learning is to support the children in their learning to help move their learning forward at home - please support them to complete their homework each week.

    Have a lovely weekend,

    The Oceans Team.
