An exciting start to St Fred's High!
In Maths, we took our learning into the kitchen! Students explored ratio and proportion by scaling up recipes, which they put to the test by baking fresh bread and sourdough in the afternoons—and then eating the delicious results.
Over in Spanish, students have been finding where we live on the world map and practicing introducing themselves to one another to build their speaking confidence.
Meanwhile, English classes focused on the art of editing and polishing, with students working hard to refine their drafts and practice key writing skills.
Our Music lessons have been exploring film music, looking closely at how soundtracks set the tone of a movie and help the audience understand the action on screen.
Finally, in PSHE, students began an important unit learning about knife crime. They explored the serious effects and impacts this has on individuals and wider society, handling the sensitive topic with great maturity.
Looking ahead to next week, we have electives on Monday afternoon again, so please remember to wear PE kits. Also, now that all children have their leavers hoodies, please remind your child that they need to be washed regularly, as they tend to live in them otherwise! Please ensure they are clearly named if they haven't been already.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend! Cailtin and Menna
