Oceans Reflect and Review

A scorcher of a week—sunshine, smiles and water fun!

We are incredibly proud of how well all of the children have coped with the exceptionally warm weather and the changes to our usual routines. They have shown great resilience, demonstrating how secure they feel in school, while continuing to develop their communication, independence, and self-regulation skills.

Despite the heat, our learning certainly didn’t stop! This week, the children became geographers, creating maps of the ocean's playground. They carefully used a simple key to identify different areas, developing their map-reading skills while enjoying hands-on, outdoor learning.

We have also been busy practising for our Magic Flute performance, which will take place next Tuesday at Grey Friars. The children are working hard to build their confidence and remember their parts, and we are really looking forward to sharing their performance with you.

To help everyone stay cool, we enjoyed a range of water-based activities and some fantastic large-scale water battles. The water battles were a real highlight of the week — the children loved teaming up, laughing, and joyfully splashing with their friends and teachers while staying active and refreshed. We’re still not sure who got the wettest in the end… the children or the teachers! Either way, there were plenty of smiles all round and everyone embraced the fun of staying cool together.

Thank you for ensuring that your child has come to school with their water bottle, sun hat, and suitable clothing during the warm weather. Your support has helped us keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Next week will be our performance of The Magic Flute at Greyfriars. Please email Oceans to secure your seats.

School will open as normal on Monday. No home learning sheets have been sent out this week.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, find some time to relax, and stay cool.
