What a super week we have had in Islands! The children have continued to work incredibly hard, showing resilience, enthusiasm, and a real determination to do their very best. We are so proud of the effort they have shown in everything they have done this week.
As performers, we are now very nearly ready for our production of The Magic Flute. The children have made fantastic progress with their singing, actions, and speaking parts, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence continue to grow. They have been working hard to remember the lyrics, project their voices, and perform with expression, bringing the story to life. Next week is our dress rehearsal, where the children will have the opportunity to perform the production from beginning to end. This is an important step in preparing for the final performance and helps the children become familiar with performing as a whole cast. If you are able to, please continue to practise the songs and any speaking lines with your child at home. Your support makes a huge difference and helps them feel confident and fully prepared to perform at their very best.
If you would like to come and watch your child's performance of The Magic Flute, please email islands@stfrideswides.co.uk so that we can ensure arrangements are in place.
This week, we have also been celebrating all of the learning the children have completed this year through our end-of-year assessments. These assessments are an important part of helping teachers understand what each child knows and can confidently do. They allow us to celebrate the fantastic progress that has been made while also identifying any gaps in learning so that we can carefully plan the next steps and ensure every child continues to receive the support and challenge they need. The children have approached the assessments with maturity, perseverance, and a positive attitude, and we could not be prouder of how hard they have worked. There will be a small number of assessments continuing into next week, and we know the children will continue to give them their very best.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week as we prepare for our dress rehearsal and final performance!
Reminders
A gentle reminder that children should not bring toys or other personal belongings from home into school unless they have been specifically requested by the class teacher. Unfortunately, these items can easily become lost, damaged or cause distractions during the school day. Thank you for helping us keep our classroom calm, focused and organised.
We are also in urgent need of junk modelling materials for our upcoming projects. If you have any clean recycling that you no longer need, we would be extremely grateful for donations. We are particularly looking for cardboard items, such as cereal boxes, tissue boxes, small cardboard packaging, kitchen roll tubes and other sturdy cardboard materials, as these are the resources we use the most. Thank you in advance for your support – it really does make a huge difference to the exciting learning opportunities we can provide.
