The children came back after the holiday refreshed and ready for another exciting term in the Barrier Reef. We have enjoyed lots of water play in the garden thanks to all the rain we have been experiencing over the week! Our Sunflowers survived the half term week and we were excited to see how big they had grown.
This week we began our new topic about journeys.
As comminicators....
we have heard from our children who celebrated Eid ul-Adha last week and they spoke confidently in front of their groups about how they celebrated. We found out why Eid is celebrated. We decorated biscuits as a special Eid treat.
As storytellers...
We have been exploring the book "The Train Ride" in Drawing Club and thinking about where the train might go next on it's journey. Reception children have been practising our poem "We're going to the seaside". Maybe your child can tell it to you this weekend. We have also continued to enjoy our Tales Toolkit adventures and The Ugly Duckling in our Story Basket session.
As mathematicians....
Reception children have begun learning about subtraction and what happens to numbers when we take an amount away. We have been revisiting our number bonds to 5 and to 10. Maybe you could ask your children to share these with you over the weekend. Pre- School have been subitising up to 6 in their Maths sessions. We wonder what they will notice when they are out over the weekend?
A reminder for Reception Dads that we have a special Lego building session for Father's Day on Friday 19th June and there is a sign up sheet by our door so please let us know if you can come.
We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week.
