Primary Curriculum

We teach Phonics  using the Read, Write, Inc scheme as our base.

We teach English using  Jane Considine - The Write Stuff

Our Reading is structured using a combination of reading scheme and real books which are levelled using standard Book Banding.  Once children are confident readers they use The Reading Journey to access a wide range of genres.

We teach Maths using Big Maths and White Rose

We teach Science using Hamilton plans and Empiri Box as our base.  We are working towards the PSQM Award in science.  Our Vision  in science is to encourage curiosity to ask questions as we explore and investigate our world.

We teach PSHCE using the Ealing Scheme of Work for PHSE education, citizenship & SEAL.

Autumn: Health and Wellbeing

Spring: Living in the Wider World

Summer: Relationships

We teach RE using the Diocese of Oxford Scheme of Work.  This uses an  Engage,  Enquire,  Evaluate  and Reflect model. It is important that whenever the children are given the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned, they consider what difference their learning is making to their thinking and acting.

We teach Spanish using Catherine Cheaters Schemes of Work for Primary Spanish.

We teach Computing using Lego We Do in years 3 & 4 and Lego Spike in years 5 & 6.

We teach PE using Real PE, Real Gym and offering opportunities with sports coaches including Cricket & Dance.  Our Year 5 & 6 children go swimming once a week until they are confident swimmers and are taught by trained swimming teachers.

Our topic work which includes Geography, History, Art and Design Technology is guided by Chris Quigley Milestones & Threshold Concepts and planned over a 2 or 3 year cycle. We try to learn through play and exploration, spending lots of time outside. Click on the topic name to see the detailed topic web:
